A Wise Woman Knows the Importance of Storing Up

I named this ministry Alabaster Woman because I was fascinated by the woman with the alabaster box in Mark 14.

This was a wise woman. A confident woman. A courageous woman. And a purposeful woman.

Just imagine how long she stored up her oil and held on to her alabaster box, when she probably could have sold it to the highest bidder. In fact, the religious men who witnessed her minister to Jesus criticized her for "wasting" such valuables.

Usually we focus on her ministry to Jesus in that passage, and we should. But I want us to go back. To think about what happened beforehand. Namely, all the preparation that went into storing up something to give to God.

A woman who stores up for a rainy day, for example, knows that hard times might come and she must be prepared for the challenges. She also knows it's not good to over eat, over spend, over indulge out of lusts. Every once in a while you need to save some for later.

That's called storing up.

Well, our Alabaster Woman in the Gospel story was purposeful about storing up. She knew one day she was going to need that oil. One day.

And one day we are going to need our oil, too. The oil of our praise will get us through rainy days and tough times. The oil of our praise will help us stand during the trial. The oil of our praise will be just what we need when Jesus comes to town.

A wise woman stores up some praise TODAY because one day she will need it like never before.

You don't have to believe me. Just wait!

Here is an excerpt from a "talk" I gave encouraging women to store it up. I pray it blesses you.
